I've had two wasps in my house in the last couple of days - both very dozy - but it's a funny time of year for wasps to be around. Has anyone else seen any?
Ooh, that's a coincidence, I swear I just heard something buzz past me but I haven't found anything yet. This morning a local radio presenter said he had a huge wasp indoors yesterday...not much else for him to talk about in my locality. :o)
B00, I'm shocked!! And you called me a murderer because I suck spiders up the vacuum cleaner!! And I didn't do it to the last one because you made me feel so guilty! :o)
Jom, I don't think so. They were quite big but not exceptionally so - and they weren't wearing a tiara. ;o)
lol sorry Naomi, I do realise it's a bit rich me saying that, but I really dislike wasps, nasty 'orrible stinging flappy things. Least spiders serve a purpose, they eat 'orrible flappy things.
I think i saw a ladybird too yesterday when taking the dog out for a walk. And I only think I saw it as before i got chance to have a proper look....the dog ate it!
Boo, you are being very waspist, still if your wasps flap rather than buzz they must be ENORMOUS, so perhaps your views are understandable. You can pick them up by the wings quite safely if you do it so that your thumbnail is against their body. They can't then sting you (as if they would want to, poor things).
Did you think "Why are they here?" maybe they have a nest in your loft or under your eaves, these two have been sent out to suss the place for food the Queen has awoken from her winter sleep & is hungry. (not Kidding)
I wondered about that, Jem. We've had wasp nests before. They were so dozy though - hardly in a fit state to be sent on a mission! I just put a glass over them, slid a piece of paper under it in order to evict them - and they hardly moved.
Its so mild , had to look twice whilst walking the dog at the weekend, large fluffy bee, was desperately trying to look for pollen. This mild weather is great for our fuel bills, but the wildlife is going to have to pay dearly for it.
I've not had any here, but in my old farmhouse, I used to get really big dozy wasps in the winter. I think they hibernate in odd corners, then get disturbed and then they are a nuisance.
I'm afraid I'm with B00. I got stung in the summer and my whole hand swelled up and was unusuable for 2 days. If I didn't hate them before I really hate them now.
