Interesting question.
In the 60´s there was a NSAid called phenylbutazone (butazolidine) which was given to race horses as it was thought that it improved their performance. The drug has been withdrawn both for it´s alleged performance enhancing in horses and because it may cause aplastic anaemia.

New NSAId.s have also been used in athletes in the present time, but there is no scientific evidence that it does indeed enhance performance.
