This question is personal to everyone but are there some products that you cannot understand why people buy them when there is an alternative.
I do not get shower gel when you can use soap. Also herbal teas when you can make fruit squashes.
Those are only two examples I sure here are lots.
I never use hard cake soap any more, soap is inhygenic - you'll never find it used in hospitals etc., it's all liquid these days. You could reverse your question and ask why the shops are still selling cake soap.
Herbal tea is quite different to fruit squash, I wouldn't want to heat up squash, that's not its intention - and you don't get squash in all the flavours and herb you find in teas.
I use liquid soap, not bar and prefer a shower or bath product that is moisturising and bland or I itch like fire afterwards. The herbal teas that i buy don't taste like fruit squash.
Add to those, some of the standard features on cars. I'm sure mine can tell me the temperature in Kuala Lumpur if only I knew which button to press. It appears that the makers had a chip to do two things, saw that it could do 500, and spent their time thinking of 498 other bits of useless and irrelevant information which the device could tell me.
Shower gel is less likely to annoy you by slipping out of your hand and onto the floor.
Most products I don't understand I understand enough get it to do what I want and ignore the rest. Like my mobile phone. I'm sure the instructions say it can make tea 100 miles awaye whilst turning on the hiFi as I draw my plans for my latest project and pay the milk bill. But I just send/receive texts and the rare call.
Facebook, I've tried it and cannot see the point of it, so an aquaintance has a million friends of whom I have never heard, so what? There is a picture of the aquaintance...I already know what they look like, and I know exactly where they live, not just the town. If I want to know if they enjoyed their holiday etc. I will ask them by whatever means is appropriate. Perhaps I am not prurient enough.
