I'm leaving home for the very first time next Thursday *sob* and I really want to give my mum something special. Not to "remember me by", LOL, but to thank her, really. Does anyone have any ideas, please? I'm usually great with this sort of thing, but I'm all weepy- softie that I am. Thanks all! :o) x
Hi ws, lots of luck for your first solo venture :)
I find it really hard to buy for my parents, as they have everything they need and want, and are always helping me out!
I often see little things I pick up for them before I see them, but how about a nice hamper full of all her favourite posh foods and drinks? You can buy it all yourself, you don't have to pay a company...You can get wicker baskets from Wilkinson or similar homeware shops, and just fill it full of what she loves. x
LOL, sleepy, I'm 22 and I'm very clean and tidy, anyway. The picture frame is a nice idea. I think I've got a nice photo of us both somewhere, although I might be a baby in it. :o) We never seem to be in the same place at the same time as someone has a camera.
Hi, leelapops! That's similar to the sort of prezzies I go for, I can never usually pick one thing so end up making a "hamper" of them, LOL! Thanks for the luck, hun! :o)
I think a nice soppy little note from you to her thanking her for being a great mum etc.etc. She will be able to keep reading it over and over and having a good cry. When I left home at 20, my dad gave me an envelope to open when I got to my flat. When I opened it it was just a note that said God bless, Love Dad. I still have it and it still brings tears to my eyes!!!!
Aww, that's lovely, Pirate! I think I'll put the note in the back of the photo frame. Great ideas, guys! :o)
Hi, Jules! Thanks, hun. I'm just grateful my mum will be at work next week, as I don't reckon I could physically move myself if she was around, LOL! Did you get my email yesterday? x
Hi, bednobs! :o) I always thought she'd love something like that, but her boyfriend got her a spa day for Christmas and she confessed to me that she hates the thought of people touching her during the treatments. LOL! Weird, I know. I'm just waiting for her to hand over that voucher. ;o) Great idea, though. Thank you. x
About bl00dy time you moved out... Your mum told me last week she can't wait to have really loud s3x the moment you're gone and she's having a party....
xxxxx CB....i hated it 1st time round......moved back home 18 months later...prefer it 2nd time round...nearer where I have lived all my life which makes a difference
Hi whiskeysheri, how about something that she would put on her bedside cabinet so she would think of you last thing at night, a little trinket box perhaps. Some gift shops do those crystals that you hang in the room, supposed to be for feng shui and all that piffle but I have got a beautiful teardrop shape one and a star shape one just hanging above my kitchen window and when the sun comes in it radiates all little sparkles around my kitchen walls while i'm having my first cuppa of the morning.
I know how you are feeling and the best gift you could both have is a phone call every night.
Good luck
fuzzy x
Whiskeysheri sweetie , what a lovely daughter you must be.
Whatever you decide on getting I am sure it will be special as she will know it has come from your heart . It is a huge thing for both of you when you leave home but every little bird spreads it's wings and flies out of the nest so you be confident when the day comes and I wish you well love. :-)
