I would put the blades in thick cardboard - toilet roll tubes and kitchen paper tubes are ideal for this - flatten, turn the ends up and bind tightly with duck tape the whole length.
Make a parcel of them - they should now be safe to put in the dustbin, or take to the council waste site.
It might be as well to ask at a police station as just putting them in with the rubbish would only move them to a rubish tip.The police may have a way to break them up for recycling
I have 3 children and their grandma (my ex mother in law) has just sent ONE easter egg for my eldest, who is her favourite. The other two have been sent nothing and can't understand why.
Give me the knives.....are they suitable for throwing?
Thanks for all your suggestions. Don't think they'd be much use for throwing. They weren't much use for cutting food in the first place but remarkably good at cutting fingers.
