there was a report this morning (Telegraph I think) that they are pursuing him for costs. He has a reputed net worth of £3.5 million made largely from his risk forecasting businesses.
Before embarking on his political career, he was a City entrepreneur. He told The Independent in 2008: "I don't claim that I'm in other than a very happy position compared with most people, because, having spent a bit of time in the City before I was elected, being able to make a bit of money while I was there, I have a cushion. He started a company named Sovereign Ratings IBCA in 1994 that tried to "scientifically measure the risks of investing in different countries". In 1997 he became managing director of Fitch IBCA, and from 1999 to 2003 was vice-chairman of Fitch Ratings.
in my eyes and imo they are both as guilty as one another. he forced her to take his points! - oh come lady you don't look or act very downtrodden to me. was it your idea or his to move the points?
both guilty - both should receive equal punishment and all costs should be recovered from them. does it bankrupt them - tough they should have been honest in the first place.
i doubt that she is, but there are phone recordings of her going off on one about taking the points, angry yes, pressured maybe, seeing as how he was her husband and could possibly have had a lot to lose by losing his licence. I personally think that he was for the most part responsible, as been pointed out, getting someone else to take your points can and has resulted in a custodial sentence..
On another thread, the other day, I suggested him 3 years sentence, down to 12 months, her 6 months out in 3.
I wonder if their son has changed his appearance and his name?
They haven't murdered anyone ,only the taxpayer and putting them in clink will just cost the taxpayer more .
They should be forced to repay all costs ,have their assets stripped and given to charity and made to do community service .
That will teach them how the mighty fall .
supposed he had killed someone whilst speeding, he didn't obviously, but he already had points on his licence for doing the same. I reckon that community service would be just, as many as the judge can award, and get all the costs back from him..
indeed, and not just speeding, an old mate of mine got pulled over for a busted back car light, he was breathalysed, and got done, this was the morning after a night out, 12 month ban, off the road work wise too...
