I think you will find that nothing has fundamentally changed, in terms of interaction between different ethnicities.
My belief is that the media has constructed this 'bogeyman' persona for Islam and stoked it up with the shadowy notion of a 'takeover', and it is simply a media construct - a myth.
I would not for one minute diminish the horror of Isis, but taken in proper context, the influence of Isis on Islam is not the huge meeting of hostile minds that the media loves to portray.
