just heard on radio..ASDA and Sainsburys are in talks to merge in a bid to beat the German competition... hmmmmmm......don't like the sound of that myself...
I have never used Aldi or Lidl, mainly because there wasn't one local to me, yet I have heard many on here sing their praises. The late Mikey4444 always bought his booze at Lidl.
Aldi and Lidl sell cheaply because, in the main, what they’re offering is sub-standard. Even their cleaning products don’t compare to the branded on sale at the usual supermarkets. You get what you pay for. Buy cheap, get cheap.
The nearest large Asda to me is just across the road from an equally large Sainsburys. I can't see them both continuing. There are going to be a lot of jobs lost.
I tried their cornflakes. No thanks. I'm amazed that they get away with the packaging rip-offs. Cereals that look like Kellogg's, chocolate that looks like Cadbury's, sage and onion stuffing that looks like Paxo, instant coffee that looks like Nescafe etc., etc.
I only ever do food shopping online. I hate walking around supermarkets and alternate between different shops. They are all much the same, sometimes one product is slightly better than another. I've never used Aldi or Lidl. It will be Amazon taking over, I agree. I buy non-perishable things from them. Free next-day delivery, no struggling with heavy and bulky things and mostly cheaper than supermarkets for the same brands.
