It is very rare to see one of London's killers caught and convicted, at one time if a murder was committed there would be a mass police investigation until the murderer was caught and convicted, now it seems a rare occasion, could it be that because most of London's escalating murders are committed by ethnic minorities, and the police do not want to be labelled racist? It has happened in the past.

//They should bring back 'hard labour' which they could do building roads etc.//
Unfortunately these days it’s all machines doing most of the work and I usually see workmen either lying on their backs with their hands behind their heads, on their phones or smoking and wolf whistling at women and basically getting paid for doing anything at all.

1802 according to this:
Robert Snooks was the last man to be executed in England for highway robbery, on 11 March 1802. Born in Hungerford in Berkshire, he was christened as James Snook on 16 August 1761. The fact that his name is commonly quoted as Robert Snooks is perhaps due to a corruption of his identity as the "Robber" Snook.

Danny....they aren't trained to do it. They have to hold tickets. Who will pay for their training? Then think about the staffing costs. You're talking about murderers. That will take a lot of staff and cost a fortune.
If someone dumped tonnes of tarmac or turned up with tonnes of concrete, would you know what to do with it? Do you know how much safety gear they have to wear?

Danny....I'm not being dismissive. My OH works for an engineering firm and the amount of red tape they have to jump through. The council has to sign off every job they do. How many council workers would be happy to go and meet with convicted murderers? The job is more complex than people think. You have to think about traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, cat eyes, barriers. The prisoners would have to be able to read plans. I've read my OH's plans and they make no sense whatsoever....but they do to him as he's trained.
nothing to do with London. Less than 10% of all crimes in England and Wales end up with charges even being brought
