How can they possibly find him anything other than guilty of murder? Having listened to the summing up, even if you put aside the problems it would cause on the streets if he was found not guilty, the evidence was so compelling that he must surely be found guilty.

I don't get people declaring this outcome as "good". Nothing at all about this all affair is good.
The verdict is good and just .
nothing about this case is good, a man lost his life, another is about to go to jail for a very long, what is good about that.
If some police decide to leave their jobs because they cannot murder people and get away with it, then they probably ought not to have been police officers in the first place...
Justice. I suspect people mean the result is good, rather than the situation.
Fender, if "lots of police" retire, on finding out it's unacceptable to murder people at work- that's more natural selection.
well he hasn't got away with it, off to the slammer for who knows how long.
I was responding to fender's point emmie.
this will stir up ever more hatred between the communities i feel.
Will it emmie, why ?

Well thats a good thing, except that there is now a worry amongst many 'law abiding' officers that they may end up in an escalated situation, make the wrong decision and get hung out to dry. This was already felt before this Chauvin case.

I think Biden interfering and Waters comments will add to that.

It's much along the lines of our servicemen being hounded. Now they find it difficult to recruit.
Ymb, he wasn't hounded. And it didn't escalate, he made a deliberate decision.
"Will it emmie, why ?"

You really have to ask that question? Perhaps you dont understand the difference between US people and UK people, believe me the mindset is totally different.

Both sides think they are hard done by, Biden despite saying he would unite and only served to divide. Remember what happened in 1861, its not that long ago and feelings still run high. Most Americans believe they have the gun laws they do to protect their 'rights' and are prepared to use them. On both sides of the fence.

Unless the Democratic administration adopts a more conciliatory and inclusive approach then this can only get worse. It's not just this case either, his warmongering abroad is angering many.

It's not a good time to be in the USA this year.

Read what I wrote, not what you wanted me to say.
this is USA the home of the divided communities, having been there for a bit, i can safely say that they just don't seem to get along. My b/f at the time was robbed several times by black youths, he didn't see that not all black people are like that. People in his community were of the same mentality, those of Italian descent.
i just feel this is the tip of the iceberg and that more unrest is to come.
I did, ymb. You used an example of something that hasn't happened and isn't relevant here.
I think it was the right verdict, regardless of the implications, but I hope that both sides take on board the message that regardless of colour, or cultural difference crime must result in punishment from the justice system not from the acts of individuals, or calls from certain sections of the population.
what the officer did was wrong on so many levels, i understand that. He will go to prison for a long while. I watched some footage of another shooting of a 14 year teenager, who was indeed carrying a gun, he dropped the gun on being told to, then was shot, he was white. In this loopy country with its laws on carrying fire arms, you aren't going to stop this.

I know that Floyd was killed by pressure on his neck and that was undue force for which Chauvin has been found guilty.
It's good because there was a chance he might get off.
no chance of that happening, no chance at all
You couldn't say that at the beginning though. He wouldn't be the first officer to get away with murder.
