Definately NOT
One hanging judge, 1 crooked policeman (OK,almost impossible to imagine) and 1 innocent man (or woman) murdered by the state - or WE the people who voted for it
Googy things have moved on since 'innocent' men got hanged. Someone who walks into a room, knifes a man to death while shouting Alla Akhbar, and then admits to the murder will never be innocent.
Tora speaking sense - //Personally I'd settle for life meaning life.//
100% agree. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to the death sentence being reintroduced for the absolute worst crimes (it would never be hanging, lethal injection more likely), but I'd be far happier with Tora's idea.
I think referenda are not good. The public mood can change in a short time, and a referendum only reflects the current mood. We should proceed more slowly and carefully, giving time for proper honest and open discussion of all aspects and consequences. The public is not good at this. We have elected politicians and I think they should make important decisions which have long-term consequences.
