Thanks BigMac but the answer has to be 10 letters so is presumably some general word for the Sundays before Lent or Festival days ,hence the 'etc' in the clue.It's been a struggle all over Christmas!!
This was previously answered as Ordinaries, as the question goes on; etc. I beleive it refers to certain religious days of the year. I'm not at all religious, but it's worth checking.
I'm sure there was a post here earlier from geo0939 which seems to have vanished , saying this had been answered as..Ordinaries..which also fits well..same as Ordinary Time

I think Shrovetide fits better with the' time' theme, as 'Ordinaries',whilst ecclesiastical, isn't time specific
