My friends daughter who is 6 believes in Father Christmas. She wants him to get her REAL fairy wings for christmas. She knows he can do/get anything for children that have been really good all year. What explanation can my friend give her as to why she will not get real ones for christmas.
i remember about 20 years ago, there used to be a toy in the shops that was based around paint.
you were given an amount of thin wire and a couple of differant coloured paints.
you would twist the wire into any shape you chose, (flowers were popular) and the paint was poured onto water. the piant would spread across the water and create a rainbow affect. the wire was then dipped into the paint and water and when it was removed, a very thin film of rainbow paint was spread across the wire shape....
wouldnt that convince a six year old ?????
:-)
Fairies are born with wings like she was born with hair and fingernails.Santa Claus would have to hurt a fairy to get the wings and she wouldn`t want that would she.
Of course there is a Father Christmas !!!!!! Whatever next - they will be saying money doesnt grow on trees. Your friend could always say that if she gets the wings from Father Christmas she wont be able to see or feel them in much the same way that we know Father Christmas and Fairies exist but we never see or hear them. The next best thing would be for the daughter to look for a white feather because that is a calling card to say your guardian angel has visited you. I really must get out more!!!!
I'm sure your friend has already considered that she will need to make sure her daughter doesn't try to "fly" from a great height. I think Pea-pods answer is excellent also.
Peapod, your answer is great! Of course, if the girl says, "go ahead, Santa - maim that fairy - my hair grows back and so will its wings," we've got a whole different issue.
Message to Peapod from my friend:- that is brilliant, I think I'll write her a letter from Father Christmas explaining that. It also explains why no-one else has got real fairy wings.
You'll have to say a big thanks from me to the person who came up with that one.
