I'd guess, JD33, that when someone protests loudly about the impending loss of their internet connection, they'll be offered "priority customer status", allowing them to stay online.
Then they'll hear someting like this . . .
"As this will involve additional work for our engineers, who'll have to find an alternative way of connecting you to the internet during the scheduled downtime, the work will of course incur a small fee. Have you got a debit or credit card handy?"
