Sony lcd tv. No Stereo

Hallo I have just bought a new Sony 26U2000. I have linked my DVD direct to TV on Scart 1 And my DVR from AV1 direct to tv Scart 2 (Smartlink). This leaves the AV2 (Decoder) unused as I do not have a dish. The TV has internal digital and analog tuner. Now I can accept having no digital But I get no stereo despite going through the correct DUAL menus. Should my scart leads be reversed on the TV as I dont understand 'Smartlink'
My previous CRT which finally broke down received Dual ok............Thanks for any help
