i pod trouble, PLEASE HELP

we just purchased a second i pod for my daughter,but when we pluged it into our pc nothing happens. i cant figure it out.i tried downloading newest version for i pod, but nothing. it wont reconize it, what do i need to do? they are both 4gigs.

Download the latest iTunes from apple.com. Install it.

Restart machine.

Now, connect iPod. Make sure it's connected straight to a computer USB port, not to a hub or through another device.

Then, start iTunes.

Wait a minute or so, and hopefully iTunes will pick it up.
