Well I have put my name down for above lessons whether they last or not |I will have given it a chance. But Jesus Christ it is £7.99 to join this "forum" to get you a tutor but what they put me through I should have bought a £1,000 or £10,000 fur coat. This £7.99 needed to be paid so me and tutor could have correspondence - absolutely dreadful putting anybody through this particularly one (like me who wouldn't be computer literate). Have got through to the tutor am awaiting a reply but I think she will agree with me too. I would give a child £7.99 to run a errand for me. Bloody eejits.
one thing that clarinet 'teachers' don't seem to teach is how to set the reed up. Some new reeds, even respectable makes are unplayable. So if you have difficulty getting notes out of your clarinet get your teacher to sort it out.
Marval because I have always loved the clarinet - I sorta knew a little bit about reeds - etc - soft reeds - upper lip must mouth the reed - I know the reed is a big factor in the clarinet. I know first lesson I will hardly get a cheep but will try and give it a go. Was reading different forums and found people who started to learn over 60 and up to 75.
I have been talking to the tutor who has agreed with me re the reed and does know what I am talking about and she has agreed for her and I to get the correct reed - apparently according to her it does depend on the person too. I'll be playing on the stage some day - please come and see me LOL
Oh I do so hope you get along with it JJ , a lovely instrument.
My eldest daughter took it up and we bought her a nice Clarinet, things were going well until some dental problems meant she couldn't perform well at an exam and it fell by the wayside.
lovely sandy - learnt a nice bit there - did you realise the lady kept the clarinet in a downward fashion - that's part of it too. God I can't wait - I so enjoyed the piano so much but couldn't cope with two broken shoulders - sot they dont affect me with the clarinet. I do have to travel about 30 miles - but after a while when you were are going it will be buns and as long as it is in daylight. We seem to have agreed Thursday evening - but she is moving house at the end of the month - so she will may be want to put off until then - I am happy with that.-
dt appreciate your comment - but if I can get a headphone in I will hear fantastically as the music goes right into the ear and brain. Maybe I am talking a no brainer here.
I am not a good singer at all - all my families everyone of them sing - I lucked out probably due to my deafness so I know I don't have "tone" - yet when I sing at my own parties and put my fingers in my ears I " hear" myself much better and have been told hey Jenny that wasnt bad.
As I said earlier post I recorded myself and Nat King Cole onto another tape and when I played it back to my American friend who had been saying oh God love you cannot sing - but when she heard the lady with Nat - who the hell is that "that's me honey" Ha - When you have a fantastic orchestra behind you - that carries you along. When the sista who is beautiful singer/harmoniser also heard - her response "oh you're not holding your note as long as Nat " - get outta everybody - I'm bloody corned beef./deef. for Jaysus sake.
