There will be children all over my small town who have seen what has happened in Paris - and been reassured by loving parents with "Don't worry, it won't happen here".
Now (over a week after the 5th) some thoughtless/brainless idiot has just let off a series of deafeningly loud fireworks - no display, just bangs.
I can actually hear next door's young children screaming ...
I would be honest about what has happened.......couching the words of course, as what happens to your credibility if something was to happen here. It's a reality of life now and the word/emphasis to include is that it is 'most unlikely'
As to Diwali, I thought that this had been cancelled in India this year, so why isn't it the same here?
237SJ, //why should we change our behaviours because of Islamist terrorists? Isn`t that exactly what they want us to do?//
Unless we change our behaviour and concede to Islam, they couldn't give a hoot what we do. Our behaviour has no effect upon them. Given half a chance they will kill us.
Personally I wouldn't allow small children to watch the news.
