On a recent post a poster was asked for an e-mail address from the rest of the post it was obviously sent. I could not see a post with this , is there a way on AB to do this confidentially ?

Unless you both know a third party & can get them to swap your details, the only way of getting in touch is to post a 'throwaway' email address for the other person to use for initial contact.
I've used the same throwaway for a few years now and (touch wood) have only had a couple of unwanted emails from irate ABers - or, to be more accurate, ex-ABers.

Woodelf's email address is on his website (which is well worth a look, by the way):

When others want people to get in touch with them individually we usually suggest that they get a 'throwaway' email address (by opening a new account at GMX, GMail or wherever) and put it in a post here. It won't matter if they end up with loads of spam going to that address, as they can simply abandon it anyway.
The Ed has, very occasionally, passed on messages from one member to another but there need to be exceptional circumstances for that to happen.
