Has the virus been a good excuse for shops to insist on card payment only, its what a lot of them have always wanted, they don't as such have to stand there counting cash at the end of the day, or go to the bank to get change, the supermarkets must be delighted.
Vulcan, lets not compare bank notes /coins being cleaner than a receipt, regarding the cashier giving you the receipt is also a bit silly, Any how I always open my bag so the cashier can put it in the bag, that can save hand contact.
I don’t think it’s an excuse (as per the heading of this thread), I think it’s been a sensible way of paying in these virus times, both for shops and customers.
Mind you, I’ve paid by card for everything I can for a number of years so I’m used to it.
I miss putting £coins I’m our jar right now, we paid all sorts of things by depositing them from purse and his pocket ,like TV licence etc, it’s amazing just how quickly they mount up , right now, the jar is empty
10:24 - you're overlooking the fact that you have to pay someone to count and bag-up all the cash at the end of the day and balance it against the amount the till says it should be.
good point teacake, unfortunately I don't carry a handbag, perhaps I'll ask the till operator to put it in my trouser pocket, something we both might enjoy.
