a) thing in your house which is still used
b) thing in your house which is purely decorative
(I'm ignoring the fabric of your house and referring only to its contents)
Jokes concerning your OH are taken as read.
I'll start
a) I have a collection of antique silver and I regularly use a spoon which dates to 1705
b) I have a silver coin from the reign of Elizabeth 1 which is probably about 1580 ish. I'll bet that is modern compared to fossils etc!
Without thinking too hard it has to be my grandfather's bureau. Grandad died (by drowning in the Thames) in 1932. I don't know when it was made but if it was brand new in 1932 that makes it 91.
Just read barmaids original post! I have an ammonite that was my dads which is old, also some coins from early on, Victorian 'bun' pennies, etc and as I took over dad's stamp collection I have early stamps, sadly not a penny black but there are a couple of red ones that I think were early.
The bureau (previous post) is still used and I suppose the fossil, stamps and coins would be classed as purely decorative now
I have not got much silver have some nice furniture from the 1800s. I have also got some coins with the oldest being celtic dating from the first century B.C.
