"and the practice of anybody who wanted to say something about the Bride and Groom just getting up and saying their piece"
:-p
I think war could break out in a few weddings I've seen.
The funny bit is communion. Catholics go and take communion, or stay in their seat if they've sinned....and are not 'holy' enough to receive 'The Lord'. I will be right at the very front. The fact that my whole family vacates the row to go to communion while I stay still will look like this. Whereas...I'm staying still because of respect....as in, I don't believe the eucharist is the body and blood of christ, so why should I insult them by taking it to just fit in.
I'm shuddering at the whole thought of the thing.
Last time I went through this, I saw a friend going up in the queue to receive the eucharist from the priest. He stuck out his hands, the priest put the host back in the chalice thing, then put his hand on the guys head, said a prayer, and blessed him instead! What this means is 'I believe, or have information to believe, that you are such a sinner that you are not worthy to receive this, and will act as such in front of everyone'. What a horrible practice!
