If you can only exercise for a few minutes a time but say do 5 x 5 minute sessions over the day, does this still benefit you the same way as doing a 25 minute session all in one go?
kinda yes and no!
when you exercise, you burn calories, depending on what exercise you are doing. so for instance 5 minutes of running would burn maybe 50 calories. do it 5 times and you burn 250 calories, do 25minutes you still burn 250 calories.
Now the bad news, because you are only doing 5 minute sets it unlikly you are raising your hart rate to reap any noticable cardio vascular work out. sorry
ta for that oggy :) Thats more or less what someone told me and I wasnt sure if they were right. They also said it wouldnt tone the muscles properly or build stamina. The fact that you still burn the same amount of calories is annoying cos that was the only thing I wasnt bothered about lol
No, for Cardiovascular exercise to benefit, your heartrate needs to remain elevated for a minimum of 20 minutes, by at least 65% of your maximum heartrate.
