LS Lowry.

I would like to know more about LS Lowry as a child and although I have looked at Wikipedia etc it doesn't say which schools he went to as a boy.It tells which college he went to, but I want to go back further than that to the name of his primary,junior and senior schools but don't know where to look for that sort of information.
Any ideas?

Micmak, I had already seen this link, but it says Lowry was born in Rusholme and moved to Pendlebury in 1909, but in Wikepedia it says he was born in Old Trafford and lived there 'til 1948 when he moved to Mottram, so I don't know how to find which is right.

In the 1891 census he is living at 8 Barratt Street, Stretford, Lancashire
In the 1901 census he is living at 14 Pine Grove, Rusholme, Lancashire

According to my book in 1909 he moved from Rusholme to 117 Station Road Pendlebury Salford.

His birth in 1887 was registered in the Barton Upon Irwell district and the 1891 census address is in the same district.

Well craft 1948 I gues the census is more accurate than Wikipedia so I expect he went to school in Old Trafford (or Stretford) as it is sometimes called.I have now written to The Lowry in Salford to see if they have more info. Thanks to all.

lol yes mikmak and your book is quite correct because he is living at the Pendlebury address in the 1911 census.......good old wiki eh?

From 1895-1904 he attended Victoria Park School. On leaving school he had private painting classes William Fitz in Moss Side.
1905-1915 he studied drawing and painting at Municipal College of Art Manchester.
