Only just seen your response AOG.
"
Now may I ask you a question, since it seems you are in defence of this protest camp site...........Would you also defend the right for a 'Right-Wing' protest group to also set-up their camp? "
Yes. If they were protesting as peacefully as these ones are, and without inciting people to violence (again, as these ones don't seem to be as far as I can tell), I would. I'd likely criticise the message, but I wouldn't attack the protest itself.
"As regards their protest making a good point, I along with many others are not quite sure what their point is."
For the record, I didn't word it this way necessarily because I think they are making an insightful and valuable point, I was just trying to ask how you'd feel if you thought they were.
"without the need for the council to take out any injunctions to have them removed, as this could take years (just as the illegal traveller's camp did), they should now be removed at once, before they erect barriers and scaffolding etc to protect their camp, what would you say then? "
Are they occupying the space illegally? As far as I know, I didn't think they were. But I haven't really had time lately to keep up with the newest details of the story aside from what turns up on AB. If you were being hypothetical, however, I'd probably support breaking them up if they'd stayed on the land illegally -in this particular case. Seeing as you used it as an analogy, I should probably say that I was very conflicted about what should've been done re: the travellers and regarding that case I'm still undecided on what the solution could or should be for that particular case.
