I don't know the proverb, but by a process of elimination it must be 'milk a goat'. Marry in May: rue the day & Wash a blanket in May: wash a dear one away.
Kettledrum has got it right, there are proverbial repercussions to marry in May and Wash a blanket, but you can safely milk a goat in May or June or July etc.
