Which of you thinks of yourself as a feminist? What do you think of when you hear the word? I ask because my ex hates the word. Now,she is what the world might regard as a feminist. She is the reason why clubs have to admit women on equal terms to men (no "Lady Members" for example) because she drafted and forced through the Act's provision which made it so. She is the one who made it law that defaulting fathers could lose their cars (yes,it's rarely enforced but it's there) . Yet she is not a feminist but "an egalitarian" as she puts it.

but you have to admit that by and large we have had a patriarchal system in Britain, one that has served most women ill, now that there is a degree of parity, in law specific, that can only be a good thing. I don't think any right minded woman wants to take over the world, we leave that to despots, mostly men... [cough] but to have a life free from the kind of constrictions that still prevail in many parts of the world. See my post about two Pakistani girls killed for dancing...
This is a really interesting question. Under no circumstances do I think of myself as a feminist. I would be excluded from their club because I dont like being told what to do, how to think, what to wear and who to like.

What do I think of when I hear the word - it is one of the worst labels on the planet. I dont want anything to do with with the word and I'm positive I dont want anything to do with it.

I'll sum it up and this is going to sound awful! but what the hell... "I have yet to meet a fair feminist" and I have yet to enjoy their company - I feel like I come from a different planet. I've seen feminists exclude men and who will go for you if you challenge them and then they will exclude you! and then they will do deals with men when it suits them.
I am so sorry to say my experience hasn't been good around them. I am 100% with your ex. though.
