seems what they wnted was discrimination in favour of him. I don't see why they should have it. If a restaurant hasn't got food I like I go to another restaurant, I don't go in and demand the kids' menu then moan on FB if they point out I'm not a kid.
I have a son who is classed as special needs, a cousin with severe cerebral palsy and my sister in law has severe MS (my other SIL died of MS) so I am aware of people with different needs. This seems to be a case of Sugar stirring. The manager of the hotel wasn't aware of any complaint and there was a similar meal on the adult section of the sample menu that I viewed. Surely a grown man, regardless of learning disabilities needs a grown ups meal? I would have thought that the family would be familiar with any issues that might occur when out and about and have strategies to deal with them.
I think that if they had first explained that the man could only eat small portions due to his medical condition and asked if he could have a child's portion of fish fingers the response would have been different. They probably just ordered a kids meal with out any explanation as to why, and the staff though they were trying to get out of paying for a full meal.
Some posters on here have not read the link before commenting. It says he can only eat small portions due to his medical problems !
A fair few of the commenters on the DM website have pointed out that the kid's meals are free on the day they went (Sunday I believe) and this is why they were refused. This puts a TOTALLY different perspective on it.
well they should have come to an agreement about a price and saved all this trouble
The staff or the diners?
Sounds to me that they asked for the fish fingers on the kids menu rather than the goujons on the adult menu as they didn't want to pay for the food.
or they could return to the hotel with a twelve year old, order their meals according to the rules and then swap plates
I agree the fact that there were free meals for children puts an entire new perspective on it . Yet another Daily Wail non story full of half truths.
I bet that if he had offered to pay the normal non free kids meal day price there would have been no story. Possibly he did offer but that is not how the Wail tells it. Not for nothing is the Wail editor often known as 'The Dirty Digger'
