last few posts...DTC sneaked in ;)
If you can add a short cruise up the east coast of Greenland, then do that as well - as the Strictly Judge, Craig Revel-Horwood, says, SPECtacular.....
Never even gave that thought but I shall...than you !!!

It may be expensive there but man it was cheap to go there !

£300 for 2 x 2 nights in a beautiful hotel via Icelandair...from Scotland as well !! (teles on the back of the seats !)

Anyway....hope others looking in might be tempted !
that's not bad, kyles - many folk use to go to the States via Reykjavik to pick up super-low fares.....
Iceland Air also do Manchester to Iceland
This was where I was on my first trip....

we went from Scrabster to Torshavn, 3 days on the Faeroes and then up to Seydisfjordur....the Faeroes are stunning as well.
..... on my bucket list DTC to see the Faroes
Fabulous DTC - thanks - just reinforced my intentions.
"on my bucket list to see the Faroes" A friend of mine went to the Faroes. Apparently you have to fly to Skye and then get a 12 hour ferry ride. He loved it though. He said it was like going to Iceland about 20 years ago.
I took a party of Scouts there in the early 90's. Its a wonderful country, with fantastic scenery but eye-wateringly expensive. Luckily we stayed in Icelandic Scout huts and did our own catering. The boys were too young to go for a beer, but I and one of the Icelandic Scout Leaders did one night, and I had to make the beer last two hours ! Very friendly people.
I went, but too young to remember it. My mum is Icelandic. My cousins go quite regularly. Very friendly and very, very expensive.
If you do go, (Faeroe included), max up your duty-free allowance. You will be popular......
Your pics , like Captain, have just reinforced my desire to go back.Thank you !

I agree...how cheap and that was only 5yrs ago !I;ve had a sneaky peak and it's still reasonable.

The Blue Lagoon..every one has to experience that....and the smell ;)

We bought our own booze...the food was incredible....I hated the whale meat sooooo much.Usually I can swallow (steady ;)).......I did only cos i'm a trouper.

Anyway...great chat with you all..pixie, imagine your Mum being Icelandic !! We have Icelandic neighbours...he's a Consultant but the family come across to their holiday home...not bad like :O Aww they're all ace and we look forward to them coming! What a lovely wee chat with you all xx
Probably my relatives ;-)
