Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

Ah bless hija, she's bought me some baby wipes, a choc covered, cream filled croissant a mag, and given me 10€ for the week for coffees!
what a sweet kiddo...
Hello chooks
No rain here .Not a drop ! Old Shaney hated the thunder and fireworks too Woofy .He was a big lad who always ended up on my lap too .Hahaa.

Neti ..I'm sorry to hear of your predicament .It's awful that these swines have made your life difficult .I hope you soon get sorted out .I always hope for a lottery win and I'll treat you if I get big money :) Chin up old girl .Nice of daughter to treat you .

Otherwise nothing doing at Shaneytowers .We're having a quiet weekend .
Take care folks and enjoy your weekend .
Thanks woofy and shaney, I feel better now, I'm not usually in the dumps for long, and I can go out on Monday, for coffee. What annoyed me was that I could not even do the Euromillions this week, so have not and will not look at the numbers, cos it'll will be this week that I've won millions and millions and millions.

Forecast says fog (!) and it's been quite sunny but I've resisted the temptation!! and stayed in!
money arguments suck :-(
You will have to excuse me I am down in the dumps and not very communicative. I have read through your posts though and am so sorry about Neti's predicament and that Mr Shaney has to go through 'procedures' again.

There's nothing much wrong, it's just that I feel heavy hearted because someone I thought was a friend has accused me of something I haven't done and wouldn't even be capable of. It's all to do with this ruddy land sale and it wouldn't take much now to make me pull out.

Love you all.

Nice to see the lovely Vin!!
What's more I have bent over backwards to help this person which has been detrimental to me. I feel really hurt.
I've been through the old money argument more times than I can remember :)
Mr S is lovely and a good husband and provider but very careful with money whereas I'm a spend now live forever type .If he didn't keep a tight ....ish control over my finances I'd be bankrupt :)
He puts everything we lay out on spreadsheets .Typical bankauffman / accountant behaviour :)
Oh that's sad Lofty .Pay no attention .God doesn't pay his debts in money and old shoes ..as my Mum used to say :)
Couldn't have been much of friend to start with to treat you like that when you've been good enough to help them .
Sorry that you are hurt Lottie. nastiness has a habit of bouncing back and biting the nasty one.
Lottie that is such a shame, it hurts that they could even think for one minute that you could do something awful (no idea what)!

Mr N has just come home and given me 25€, normally I'd throw that meagre amount in his face, but he won some dinero at golf (all paid in the previous month) nd I am delighted.

Yes shaney, Mr N is very like that, which is lucky cos I'd blow the lot. When he inherited a lot from his father we had to see an accountant, who asked what we wished to do with it, I said spend spend spend, so it was invested, which is lucky cos we have that to fall back on now! I don´t get a lot from him, nbut I do get a weekly allowance, so things I want (not need!) have to come out of that. Dentist etc he's pays for.

Pouring down here. It is Mediaeval weekend here at the old town in Ibiza, and hija and friend are going this evening, but I fear it will be wet. We may wander round tomorrow as it doesn't cost anything. I'm not moaning, I know it'll get better, and it's surprising what you can do for free, young kids of today should try it! (Not that I want to be this poor forever!!!)
The person in question has suggested that I lied about something just so that she could get more money from my part of the sale to her detriment. She has said that I misled her on a legal issue. I am not a flippin solicitor and everything I said I believed to be true because that is what I was advised by so called professionals. She is now saying she should have taken legal advice. Well yes she should and she is silly that she didn't. It doesn't sound really that bad now I have written it down, but I have done all the work for three parties on this. I think I mentioned this before to you. I did all the work whilst they set back and now am being accused of trying to cheat. I have never cheated anybody out of anything. In fact I am more likely to be cheated because I am such a trusting soul.

Never, never again!! I bent over backwards for her, as I said before to our financial detriment.

Thanks for listening. You are all lovely.
I feel better for telling you.
Never, never again. I don't care now if the deal falls through. The money would be very nice for our future, but I don't need any more stress.
We have had about 5 spots of rain!! :o(

Money!!! We have had arguments about it over the years - not because I spent it but because he hasn't got a clue and has got us into lots of scrapes by spending what we haven't got. He just doesn't give a jot about money - he's far from being a spendthrift, just never bothered about what's in the bank. I pay all the bills and bank online and call tell you exactly what we have. He just leaves it all to me. Goodness knows what he would do if I weren't here. I often worry about it.

He's better now though than he was we were young. He was a bit of a wheeler dealer when he was young and thought he could continue after we got married!!

Oh dear, sorry to hear about all the troubles....hope things resolve themselves pdq.

Money?! pah! my ex was like Mr LL Lottie, hopeless. As I said recently, from day one I took care of everything but there were times he did stupid things beyond my control & we'd end up in the doodoo. Well almost, I always had a secret emergency fund & made sure there was enough for the necessities. It was annoying 'cos when times were good money-wise they were very good & we could have had so much but he wouldn't speculate to accumulate. I'm so used to being in control now I don't think I could be with anyone who didn't let me 'look at the books' even if he appeared to be sensible.

I've felt better today thanks shaney, still being careful with what I eat while my inside recovers...it'll probably be a week before I 'go' again, haha.

Lovely outfit Jude, I'm glad you're finally sorted. Now stop fretting & look forward to the day! :o)

I saw the swifts this afternoon so the squealing I heard this morning wasn't my tinnitus, lol
Hailstones at the moment!!
Bless Mr N he's a sharer, very important. It's coming over black here. Rain I can deal with but no more thunder please..........

Neti I'm laughing at you wishing grumpy Sqad a happy birthday & him not knowing how you know. If you tell him he'll be even grumpier, haha
Oh Mr LL is a sharer too Woofie, what's his is mine and what's mine is his too. He just hasn't ever had to pay bills or sort our our finances in 40 years!! We do have joint accounts. He has never, ever questionned what I spend. He's just not interested. Mind you I am such a control freak, that, like Robi, I just couldn't cope with someone any different. I like to be in charge!! I do tell him what I am doing with our money but he really isn't interested. No doubt he would be if I bled us dry!!
We are the other way around. DH is my personal financial advisor and chauffeur when I don't feel like driving. I am his PA. I keep track of his appointments, make his phone calls and know where stuff is.
It's persisting down here......lovely the garden needs it. The dogs peered out the door when invited to wee and said heck no. Shugghy is funny. He need his ears cleaned out daily. I use those tissues with the lotion in, draw one corner out to a point and feed it right down into his ear while puling the flap up straight from his head to straighten the ear canal. Tonight, as usual, he actually fell asleep on me while I was doing it!!!
Still tormenting down here. Night night all.
Morning all, nicer day now, sunny. A couple of my posts from last night haven't appeared, never mind eh? It was to say that we had hailstones and a thunderstorm!

Hope you are all feeling better. Robi do you want me to tell him that it was you or leave him in suspenders?
