Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

Not pooh Matalan, Ooooh Matalan
Just nipped in to say goodnight. Derby made a 0 - 0 draw which was very good for them, Thought Id give you that boring bit of info before I go to bed.
Have a good night all.....see yer later 'gater(s)
Night all ..sleep tight .
Morning all. thanks for that hint shaney will look out for it on the download site (can't get it if it's out on dvd within a week of finishing)

Hija got a lovely long summer dress from Matalan last year. I would like one, but need sleeves, hate old women's arms, and although I do wear modern clothes I do not want to look like an old woman in a young girl's dress. And the size of my midrift is shocking, I cannot believe I overdid the eating this winter!!! Diet is very hard at the moment just cannot get into it!!!
Am trying to get ready to go out (as certain shops are closed from Tomorrow until Monday) but my face is bright red from the sun yesterday, two wrinkly apple cheeks, look dreadful!
Morning all. Another beautiful day. Back door wide open and Blackie 2 and wife are feeding on mealworms etc. The goldfinches are now regular visitors but they usually come in the evening for the niger seeds. I'm off out for my usual Tuesday activities. One of my friends has a dental app. so there will be only 2 of us for lunch.
I hope you all have a good day and the weather is making you feel a lot better from aches and pains etc. My nether region is improving very well now with the help of the med. and salt baths. ( The last was my sister's suggestion Old fashioned but it works).
Have a safe trip Jno.
Neti have you heard your favourite singer's latest? I think it's really good. Only you haven't mentioned him lately.

See you soon Maniloon and Biddfriends!!
Hi jude, ooh bazza, what is this latest of which you speak. I never listen to radio so am behind the times. I hear he's going to appear at the O2 in May but there's no way I could afford that. Ah bless him.

Morning all...ooooh, that creaking is me, where's the wd40? I've really overdone it this past week or so and now I'm paying for it big time stylie.... it's the lovely weather, it makes you want to get moving. I've got to have some blood tests done one day soon but there was no way I could go for 2hrs without a cuppa and pain relief this morning.

Shame about the dress woofy, it's often the way, things never look the same in reality. You could try Debenhams, they had lots of lovely maxi dresses last year. They've just sent me an email actually and there's a lovely tailored Ben de Lisi black jacket. I love trouser suits but I don't go anywear to wear one.

Now come on jno, get a move on, they've already started poking their pointy brollies down the drains to see if there's anything dodgy. Oh dear, they are taking security very seriously ....

THanks for that clip robI, am on phone and hot it on youtube but couldn't hear it. WIllj do It properly when I am back home
I have often bathed my nether regions in salt water, cures a lot!
.mmm well it might grow on one, the song I mean. Just watched the interview from March 2011, he is so nice.

If I dig into my memory (I don't keep other peoples posts) jno once said that one of them was a criminal (abeit slight) and the other was a barrister or judge even (I would imagine!) so if jno is not invited to the wedding, then obviously she is the crim!! Makes me feel a load better!!
I'll be up before a barrister before too long if Mr S doesn't go away and leave me in peace for five minutes and get out of his pajamas and wash and dress himself .
If I see him fumbling about in the pantry and fridge much more I'll scream :)
Rant over .
I've just had a look round Debenhams .They've got some lovely things .
Nice day here so far ,bright and sunny .

They're supposed to come and look at the phone sometime soon with any luck .
I'm on a short fuse at the moment so they'd better turn up !

Hope you're all Ok today.
Good afternoon.

Got on here OK today. Was impossible last night. We had a lovely day out yesterday, but I overdid the walking at Walberswick and am suffering for it. I didn't even walk very far - it may have been a combination of gardening the day before and being on my feet all day. Anyway, the weather was wonderful. And still is.

Shaney, chin up girl. I must admit to still wafting about here in my 'housecoat' (sounds more civilised than dressing gown). I am just so tired today. Have managed to get the washing out and clear up a bit, but I just can't get going and I have to go shopping and to the bank.

That's a great shame about the dress Woofie. Good job though that you saw it 'in the flesh' before you ordered it.

Neti, I need sleeves too. Even in the garden. I just hate my arms these days and besides that am not keen on exposing too much flesh to the sun and tend to cover up where possible.

Found the head and beak of my favourite blackbird in a mass of feathers. Could only have been our resident sparrowhawk. I buried his head :o(. Am now concerned about his brood which he has been busy feeding. Hope his wife can cope.

Am not doing anything for Easter accept watch the traffic go by down to the coast!! Mr LL is having the Tuesday off after the bank holiday, on my instructions. So will only be working 2 days next week.

Will we be seeing your OH on the tele then jno? I am so, so curious, but I know you will never tell?

If I don't appear again for a while it's due to broadband/computer. The computer now takes about 20 minutes to do it's stuff before I can even use it. And if I leave it on I lose the broadband connection.

Here Neti I think this is a good version. We're going to have to agree to differ Robi, I quite like it. http://www.barrymanilow.com/ He's so thin though isn't he.
I hope your loosening up now Robi, I get the aches and stiffen up etc when I've been digging the garden. That's when I have to have a soak in he bath.
Take it easy Shaney. It's too nice a day to get wound up about anything. I suppose I don't really have the right to comment do I not living with anybody. Sorry. Just hope everything settles down for you.
There were only 6 of us at Tai chi so it was a very quiet morning which I enjoy.Went to the Bull in Breastoin for lunch, but I can't say I really enjoyed it very much. I can do better mashed pots than they can. Not fluffy at all there's weren't. I had Pork and veg but it was only carrots and frozen peas. So I wont be having that again.
I'm not going to have a bird watching hour or two.
See yer later 'gater(s)
Pleased you had a nice day at Wobbleswick Lofty .It's lovely down that way .
Did you have any chish and fips ? We went to Marks in Southwold they were soooper doooper .

Phone sorted out .We can't have been the only ones 'cos he phoned from the box which is way down the road and said it had been a general fault .
Still at least Mr S is happier . He's been chuntering to the Germans and I traipsed out and got him a bottle of medicine .Whisky flavoured :) Anything for a bit of peace and a quiet life .

I sound awfully mean don't I Jude and I shouldn't be like that about him because he's had to put up with such a lot and I 'spose he's entitled to be nitty .
I just hope this next round of tests can sort his waterworks problem out and he'll be a happy chappie again ..

I'm gonna go and sample a glass of his medicine and make something to eat .
T pip for now .Have a nice evening everyone xx
if you are like me atm Shaney, grumps and guilt are a pernicious mix. In normal life, if DG had grumped at me I would have told him where to step off the bus, eventually he would have said sorry...well indicated sorry, peace restored. Now when he's grumpy i feel guilty if I pull him up or respond in kind because I know he has reason to be, I bottle it up and get generally grumpy, he notices and feels guilty...I feel bad for making him feel guilty and get grumpier....and off goes the grumpy carousel.

Anybody a Doctor Who fan?
I find the words in this clip weirdly comforting, you don't need to know the story, just listen to the voice over
OOo Shaney you didn't sound awfully mean, you just sounded so fed up and I wanted you to feel better. Anyway I'm pleased you do in you last post. I lived on my own so long I suppose I have forgotten how to compromise.

I've just been to Dunelm, the local, 'We sell everything householdy' and bought a shower curtain. The 2 I have have seen better days and wont wash properly so they're being outed as soon as I've finished this post.

Woofy I like Dr. Who but I think you may have missed something!!

Hope you all have a good night bye for now. I may just be back before I go to bed so I wont say my usual just yet. :~)
